Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir asserted on Monday that the recent attacks on military installations and memorials were “intolerable” and “regrettable” as he announced that May 25 would be observed across the country as “Pakistan Martyrs Day”.
COAS passed a statement at the awards distribution ceremony in honor of martyrs and Ghazis at General Headquarters Rawalpindi.
General Syed Asim Munir presented military awards to officers and men of the Pakistan Army for their bravery and outstanding service to the nation during the operations.
Fifty-one officers were awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz (military), 22 officers and men were awarded tamgha bisalat, and two soldiers were awarded special medals of the United Nations.
A large number of senior officers of the Pakistan Army and families of martyrs attended the ceremony.
COAS asserted, “Of course, due to the dutifulness and great sacrifices of the martyrs, we are living in a free atmosphere.”

He further added that the Pakistan Army, as an institution, always remembers everyone associated with it and their families, and our relationship as a family is proud and unparalleled.
“Every soldier and officer of the Pakistan Armed Forces, irrespective of all regional, linguistic, and political prejudices and distinctions, puts his duties and responsibilities first.” Army Chief
“A strong army guarantees the security and unity of the state,” Chief added.
