Cop suspended for thrashing school principal

A police constable in Lodhran has been suspended for torturing and issuing threats of murder against a private school principal.

According to the details, Mohammad Rizwan, the principal of a private school, told officials at Lodhran police station that while he was teaching students in his school in the morning on Tuesday, accused Constable Ghulam Shabir along with some of his colleagues came and tortured him, and also issued threats to kill the principal.

The next day, while Rizwan was recording a video statement to a local journalist about the incident, the accused Ghulam Shabbir and his accomplices reached there and took him to the city police station, where he locked him in a room on the top floor.

The SHO city reached the room on the spot and thrashed him, Rizwan said in his statement. Plaintiff Rizwan took legal action against the accused Ghulam Shabbir to provide justice to the victim.

After the video went viral, District Police Officer (DPO) Abdul Rauf Babar took notice of the incident and suspended the accused constable and ordered departmental action. On the orders of the DPO, the concerned SHO has registered an FIR and initiated legal action. The accused Ghulam Shabbir has been arrested and remanded in custody.

The Lodhran DPO said that Constable Shabbir had tortured the youth by keeping him in illegal detention.
