Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan is finally out of the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) grey list through joint efforts of civil-military leadership.
On Saturday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif while addressing a press conference in Lahore said that Friday was a good day for Pakistan.
His press conference comes after Pakistan was taken off the grey list and PTI chairman Imran Khan was disqualified by the Election Commission of Pakistan in the ToshaKhana reference.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and advisor Attaullah Tarar.
PM Shehbaz stated in response to Imran’s disqualification that it had been established that Imran was a certified liar and a thief. But he was careful to point out that this was a period of “reflection,” no joy.
Adding that the PTI leader auctioned off state property after declaring the revenues would go to the treasury, he claimed Imran came to power as a result of the “worst rigging.”
“If you had placed money from selling state presents in the treasury, the country would have praised you. Despite being your political rival, I would have as well.”
PM Shehbaz further stated that Imran Khan had humiliated Pakistan.
He compared himself to Imran by claiming that he once informed a court that he had obtained a letter from the Cabinet Division stating that he was eligible to purchase a state gift for a set sum.
The PM stated that he deposited the present in the Toshakhana and replied to the letter with “No, thank you.”
He claimed that in order to counter the notion that state presents disappear, state gifts are now on display at the Prime Minister’s House. So that the public will know who sold presents and stole the money, I now have them displayed in PM House.
He said that the individual who accused others of stealing had been certified as a thief today.
