FM expresses gratitude to US for extension in wavier of visa interview

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has expressed his gratitude to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken for the interview exemptions for Pakistanis.

On Twitter, he wrote, “Thank you Antony Blinken we have discussed visa issues at length. Allowing interview waivers for those who have already in the past held US visas across all age groups is extremely helpful. This should speed up the visa process and will increase people-to-people ties.”

The United States embassy extended an interview waiver for Pakistani nationals who wish to extend their tourist and business visas.

The statement from the US embassy said, “In an effort to improve customer service, the US government allows non-immigrant visa applicants to apply for their visas without an interview under the interview waiver program.”

The statement further added that first-time candidates should not use this process. It only applies to specific candidates who are applying for visas, and other restrictions might be in place.

However, citizens who are renewing their B1/B2 tourist and business visas are free from the requirement.

According to the US embassy, the exception is available to all Pakistani nationals, regardless of age, whose B1/B2 visas are valid or have expired within the last 48 months.
