Adiala Jail administration lifts two weeks long jail visits ban

Adiala Jail administration has lifted a two-week ban on visits to political and other prisoners.

In a statement, the jail administration announced that visits to inmates in Adiala Jail have resumed as of today.

The administration clarified that the ban was implemented to ensure the safety of over 7,000 prisoners, including the founder of the PTI.

The Superintendent of Adiala Jail stated that the ban on visits has been lifted starting today. He added that family members and other concerned individuals can now meet with inmates following normal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

The Punjab Home Department had imposed the ban on March 12 due to security concerns surrounding visits to prisoners in Adiala Jail. The ban lasted for two weeks, during which media coverage was also prohibited near gate no-5 of Adiala Jail.

It’s worth noting that 11 politicians from the PTI have been granted permission to visit the party’s founder. Among those allowed to visit are Sher Afzal Marwat, Faisal Javed Salar Kakar, Ali Bukhari, Khalid Masood, and Nadeem Afzal.

Additionally, Advocate Naveed Anjum, Sajida Begum, Siraj Ahmed, Sarar Azhar Tariq, Barrister Gohar, Zartaj Gul, Shoaib Shaheen, and Umair Niazi have arrived at Adiala Jail to meet with the party’s leader.
