The Afghan Taliban have reportedly captured a group of heavily armed men who are alleged to be either Baloch militants or members of the Islamic State of Khorasan Province (ISKP) in Afghanistan.

Security analyst and Islamic Theology of Counter Terrorism Deputy Director Faran Jeffery tweeted photos, which showed handcuffed men, along with a large amount of ammunition that was seized by the Taliban. Jeffery reported that the men were captured from Nimruz and they were claimed to be either Baloch men from Pakistan or ISKP operatives.

Jeffery furthered that Baloch separatists in the past were recruited by ISKP, so it was not too far-fetched an assertion that the men were from Pakistan. ISKP recruits had conducted terror attacks in Balochistan previously, he added.

The ISKP has served as a venerable security threat to the incumbent Taliban leadership in Afghanistan. The extremist outfit was responsible for suicide attacks on Kabul airport in August, which killed at least 175 civilians and 13 US soldiers. The same month in Pakistan, the ISKP was involved in the terror attack in Mastung Balochistan, in which two policemen were martyred.
