Ahad Cheema back in action

Famously known as the ‘blue eyed’ of Shehbaz Sharif’s government in the past, a BPS-19 PAS officer Ahad Cheema was again seen with PM Shehbaz Sharif during his work activities in Islamabad earlier this week.

According to the media reports, the federal government has withdrawn all the charge sheets against the former director-general of Lahore Development Authority. All the pending inquiries against Cheema have also been dismissed.

He was released from jail in April last year. Three references were filed against him by the National Accountability Bureau and he was released after pre-conviction incarceration spanning over three years.

It is important to mention here that Cheema was the first high profile arrest case in Punjab before the elections of 2018. He was the head of the Lahore Development Authority during the last PML-N government.

Also, in recognition of his services in constructing the Lahore metro, Cheema was conferred the award of Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan.
