Aimal Wali Khan secures ANP central presidency unopposed

Aimal Wali Khan, the current president of Awami National Party (ANP) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been chosen as the party’s central president without opposition. This happened during a significant general council meeting at the Bacha Khan Centre in Peshawar.

The meeting, chaired by Chief Election Commissioner Iftikhar Hussain, brought together the top leaders of ANP. Aimal was the only candidate for the central presidency, which made his selection smooth and undisputed.

No one else ran for the position, showing that the party supported Aimal’s leadership.

Sources from inside the meeting said that Haider Khan Hoti, a respected member of the ANP, was the one who nominated Aimal.

Aimal Wali Khan follows in the footsteps of his father, Asfandyar Wali Khan, who previously led the party.

Asfandyar Wali Khan has taken a break from politics, which is why he did not participate in the general elections held on February 8.

In other news, Zahid Khan, the party’s central spokesperson, resigned from his role a day before the meeting. He also decided not to take part in the upcoming internal party elections, explaining that he had different political views from the current party direction.
