Political revenge at Imran Khan’s behest, PM Shehbaz strongly condemns arrest

The Anti-Corruption Department has arrested Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf in a government land forgery case.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the arrest of Muhammad Ashraf and said that the arrest was political revenge. He said that anti-corruption Punjab was being used for political revenge at the behest of Imran Khan.

PM Shehbaz also said that PTI was still committed to its negative attitude of worst political revenge. He said that political revenge has caused irreparable damage to the country and the people and they were now using anti-corruption Punjab against political opponents like NAB and FIA.

According to the FIR filed by the Anti-Corruption Department, the accused Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf along with Muhammad Saleem Patwari and Riasat Ali Gurdawar had kept 157 Acres, one Kanal and 16 Marla government land in possession by forgery and fraud.

The FIR said that Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf had grabbed government land by posing as a fake allottee to a fake person Sharif Ahmed Hashmi. It has further been stated in the FIR that the accused cultivated the crop by forging the official records.

The FIR also stated that the accused in connivance with revenue staff had forged government documents and the concerned employees of the revenue department were equally involved in this crime. The accused caused a loss of crores of rupees to the state exchequer so action should be taken against the accused, the FIR also said.

The Anti-Corruption Department conducted an inquiry and arrested Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf, a member of the National Assembly of PML-N from Constituency 161 of Sahiwal.
