Asim Abbasi to direct British Muslim comedy horror ‘Count Abdullah’

Asim Abbasi, a British-Pakistani director has recently shared the poster for his upcoming British Muslim comedy series titled “Count Abdulla” on ITVX.

The show stars Arian Nik, known for his role in “The Bay,” along with Jaime Winstone and Nina Wadia.

“Count Abdulla” is a six-part horror comedy that revolves around Abdulla Khan, a Muslim doctor in his mid-20s grappling with an identity crisis. Caught between his religious mother and his secular friends.

Abdulla’s life takes a comedic turn when he is bitten by vampire Winstone, leading to a series of amusing adventures.

“Count Abdulla” has been written by Kaamil Shah and produced by Hussain Casey Ahmed and Fudge Park Productions, with Phil Gilbert serving as the executive producer. The series is scheduled for release on June 15.

Asim Abbasi previously directed the TV series “Churails” on Zee5. His critically acclaimed film “Cake” was released in 2018. He is also known as the director of the highly anticipated series “Barzakh,” starring Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed.
