The Iraqi social media community mourns the tragic loss of Ghafran Sawadi, popularly known as Umm Fahd, who was fatally shot outside her residence in Baghdad.
Ghafran, a prominent figure on TikTok, gained attention not only for her content but also for her legal troubles stemming from the creation of explicit videos. Despite facing a six-month prison sentence for her online activities, she persisted in sharing content that often courted controversy.
The disturbing incident, captured on CCTV, unfolded as an assailant on a motorcycle approached Ghafran’s vehicle, firing shots before fleeing the scene.
The perpetrator remains unidentified, leaving authorities grappling with the investigation. Ghafran’s tragic demise echoes a similar fate suffered by Iraqi influencer Tak Noor al-Safar, also known as Noor BM, who was gunned down in Baghdad in September 2023.
