The series of audio leaks has been continuing, but this time it is another alleged audio leak of a conversation between former prime minister Imran Khan and his principal secretary Azam Khan.
The two can be heard in the audio discussing how to make cypher an issue of a foreign conspiracy. Imran Khan at the start of the conversation said that they would only play that it was on old dates.
However, it is also important that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had already said that the cypher was hidden from the then PM Imran Khan. PTI’s senior leaders including Shireen Mazari, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Fawad Chaudhry had stated that there had been attempts to hide the cypher
The principal secretary said that there should have been convened a meeting over the matter; adding that the ambassador had stated to issue demarche. He suggested a meeting including the foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and the foreign secretary.
Azam also said that the analysis of the foreign secretary will then be converted into minutes of the meeting according to the requirement so that it could become part of the record as a threat.
The former principal secretary also said in the conversation that it would become diplomatic in a manner that could be called a threat and after that, the minutes of the meeting will be drafted according to their requirement.
Upon that Imran asked who should be called for a meeting, Shah Mehmood, you [Azam Khan] and Sohail. Azam replied that would be all and in the way things will come on record. He also said that he [Sohail] is consulate for the state and when he would read that would become part of the record. He suggested that calling the foreign secretary was also important to maintain on diplomatic record apart from the political nature.
Imran Khan also said that the ambassador was the one who wrote it; Azam replies that they didn’t have a copy. Imran then said after that the issue was brought forward by him and it should be formed into a foreign conspiracy.
Shireen Mazari had said on April 23 that there were attempts of keeping the cypher secret in the foreign ministry and even from FM Qureshi.
Fawad Chaudhry in today’s tweet stated that the new leaks have confirmed that there had been efforts of keeping the cypher secret from the prime minister.
PTI’s leader Shehbaz Gill has stated in a tweet that today’s leaks have proven what he had said previously. He further stated that he had brought the matter on record earlier that the cypher was kept secret from Imran Khan.
Senior analyst Habib Akram has said that It had become clear from the audio of Imran Khan that the cypher was a fact and it was hidden from Imran Khan.
It is also pertinent to note that the account of a hacker, who had leaked PMO’s audio in previous weeks was closed last night after more than 24 hours of inactivity but it again got active this early morning
