BAP members to bring no-confidence motion against Bizenjo

Abdul Quddus Bizenjo replaced Jam Kamal Khan last year as Balochistan CM

The members of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) have announced they would bring a no-confidence motion against Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddos Bizenjo on Thursday (March 10).

There were several misunderstandings and party collisions within the ruling party in the last few months in particular. Jam Kamal Khan, the former CM and party president, was replaced with Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo six months earlier, claiming that the former was not ruling accordingly. Khan had to quit and resign from the chief ministry thereof.

Apart from Khan’s resignation as CM, the Bizenjo-led group of the party announced Khan’s removal as party president too and temporarily rendered the charges to Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, the former minister for planning and development. On the contrary, Khan continued working as the head within his group of the party.

After six months of the shift in the government, the provincial government – led by Bizenjo – announced to take back the portfolio from Buledi, as a result of his reservations and “non-functional behavior” as the minister of the department.

It would be worth mentioning here that Buledi opted for a walkout in a provincial cabinet meeting. The reason behind Buledi’s walkout was claimed to be the withdrawal of a large portion of funds for different mega development projects in the regions of the opposition members of the assembly. He said that withdrawing such a large portion of funds during the third phase of the fiscal year would increase the burdens of the province. He was proud that he opted “resistance over becoming a bargainer of the future of the province”.

However, in a later statement by Buledi, he announced bringing a no-confidence motion against Bizenjo. The former minister decided it after a meeting with Khan and his group.

In a tweet, Buledi announced that: “In view of the destructive method of governance in Balochistan, a no-confidence motion will be brought against the corrupt and incompetent government of Quddus Bizenjo, which has led to unrest, concern and bad governance in Balochistan after consultation with the central and provincial leadership of BAP, senate members, National and Provincial Assembly members and the allies.”
