The Lahore High Court has dismissed the appeals of Jamshed Cheema and his wife against the rejection of their nomination papers pertaining to NA-133 by-elections.

A Lahore High Court (LHC) division bench comprising Justice Jawad Hassan and Justice Muzammil Akhtar Shabbir announced the verdict after hearing arguments of the appellants’ counsel.

Another Lahore High Court(LHC) Judge on Monday recused himself from hearing appeals moved by PTI leader Jamshed Cheema and his wife Musarrat Cheema against the decision of an election tribunal regarding upcoming by-election of NA-133.

As the appeals came up for hearing before the bench led by Justice Shujaat Ali Khan and comprising Justice Faisal Zaman, the latter judge refused to hear the case citing personal reasons.

“I can’t hear this case,” Justice Zaman said, citing the personal reasons for his excuse. The bench sent the matter to the LHC chief justice for the constitution of another bench for its hearing.

This is another judge of the LHC who refused hearing of the case of Cheema and his wife for personal reasons as Justice Shahid Waheed had already recused himself from hearing the matter for personal reasons.
