Cabinet declares May 9 as ‘black day’ each year

The federal cabinet announced that May 9 will be observed as a “black day” every year. This was decided during a special cabinet meeting on Thursday.

The meeting was held to discuss the unrest that occurred on May 9. During this meeting, a resolution was passed condemning the violence and chaos that took place.

The cabinet also proposed stricter measures to prevent attacks and vandalism against military and national sites. These proposals will be sent to parliament for new laws.

Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar presented a report from the cabinet committee investigating the May 9 riots. The committee suggested changes to laws and harsher punishments for those who damage government property.

The cabinet members agreed that cases related to the May 9 incident should be resolved quickly and logically. Tarar said that swift decisions are needed to show the public that breaking the law has serious consequences.

However, Political Affairs Advisor Rana Sanaullah criticized the committee’s report, saying it wasn’t detailed enough and didn’t clearly identify those responsible.

The cabinet decided that the committee’s recommendations will be taken to parliament for further discussion and possible legislation.
