Cambridge announces new dates for A-Level exams

Following the unrest triggered by the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, two A-level exams in Pakistan were canceled on 10 and 12 May. To address this issue, Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) rescheduled the affected exams.

The A-level mathematics and history exams will now take place on 21 June, with mathematics scheduled for the morning session and history in the afternoon. The results will be made available by 18 August. CAIE has taken the necessary steps to inform schools, colleges, and private applicants about this decision.

Earlier, the British Council had announced that the results for all previous exams would be released on 10 August. In light of the security situation in South Asia, the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) notified foreign boards about the cancellation of exams. Consequently, the British Council canceled all Cambridge International, Pearson, University of London, and IELTS exams in Pakistan.

The arrest of Imran Khan, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), prompted the cancellation of the exams on 10 and 12 May. The British Council, considering the evolving situation in the country, made the decision to prioritize the safety and well-being of the candidates and staff involved in the examinations. The rescheduling of the A-level exams by CAIE aims to ensure that students are given a fair opportunity to complete their assessments under more stable circumstances.
