Camila Giorgi retires from tennis

Italian tennis player Camila Giorgi, known for her aggressive playing style, has retired at the age of 32, according to an announcement by Italy’s tennis federation (FITP).

Giorgi, who won four WTA titles during her career, chose to retire without a personal statement, leaving her fans surprised by the sudden news.

Her last match was at the Miami Open, where she lost to the talented Iga Swiatek, marking the end of her tennis journey.

The FITP’s brief announcement marked the conclusion of Giorgi’s notable career, praising her significant impact on the sport.

The International Tennis Integrity Agency also confirmed her retirement, indicating her official departure from the professional tennis circuit.

During her career, Giorgi achieved significant milestones, including winning the Montreal Masters 1000 title in 2021 and reaching a career-high ranking of 26th in 2018.

She also delivered standout performances at Grand Slam tournaments, notably reaching the Wimbledon quarter-finals in 2018 and achieving the same at the Tokyo Olympics in 2015.
