Caretaker Sindh CM announces robust security plan for general elections

Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister, Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar, revealed that 115,500 policemen have been designated for security duties during the upcoming general election, covering 191 seats, including 61 National Assembly and 130 provincial assembly seats.

The announcement was made during a meeting with participants of the PN Staff Course of Pakistan Navy War College.

The Chief Minister also addressed environmental concerns, detailing plans for treatment plants to manage waste and industrial water, alongside initiatives such as planting one million mangrove plants to combat pollution in the sea.

The meeting touched on climate change mitigation schemes and law enforcement challenges, with emphasis on preparations for the upcoming elections.

The IG Police highlighted key challenges, including street crime in urban areas, while the Chief Secretary suggested reforms for the criminal justice system.

The discussion also covered efforts to combat kidnapping for ransom, and the Chairman of Planning and Development briefed participants on Sindh’s vast resources and development priorities.

The budget outlay for the province was mentioned as Rs 2.28 trillion. The Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, Chairman P&D, and IG Police addressed questions from the course participants, led by Commandant Navy War College Rear Admiral Azhar Mahmood, who expressed gratitude for the Chief Minister’s time and responses.
