Case of acid attack on Shahzad closed in UK due to insufficient evidence

Authorities from Hertfordshire Police and intelligence agencies have confirmed the closure of the case involving an acid attack on Shahzad Akbar, former adviser to Imran Khan and prominent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader in Britain, citing insufficient evidence.

Despite thorough examination of surveillance footage capturing Shahzad Akbar’s movements, the suspect remains unidentified, leading to the closure of the investigation.

In response, Shahzad Akbar expressed intentions to pursue legal action independently despite the termination of criminal proceedings by the police.

Last week, Shahzad Akbar had accused the Pakistani government of orchestrating the attack and announced plans for legal recourse.

The incident occurred on the evening of November 26 last year when Shahzad Akbar reported being targeted with acid near London. Additionally, he had received correspondence from Pakistani authorities regarding the Al-Qadir Trust Case.
