Defense Minister Khawaja Asif stated that a change of administration in Punjab would provide political stability.
He also verified allegations that the federal government is trying to bring a political transition in the province.
Khawaja Asif stated in an interview that, we always have the option to change the Punjab administration and we will act when we deem it practical.
He said, “We are working on it politically and the transition would provide political stability to this uncertainty.”
The defense minister stated that it was Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s prerogative to choose the new army chief and that the coalition partners will be taken into confidence.
He continued by saying that the institution will be consulted and that it would send the list of suggested personnel for the new chief.
He also stated that so far no consultation has been started towards the appointment of a new army chief.
