Cheemas join growing list of PTI defectors, leave politics

Musarrat Jamshed Cheema and her husband Jamshaid Cheema on Thursday announced their decision to quit the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and politics.

“9th May was the most unfortunate day of my life,” Musarrat Jamshaid Cheema asserted.

Today Jamshed Cheema and Musarrat Jamshed Cheema got released from Adiala Jail. Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi canceled the detention orders of Jamshed Cheema and Musarrat Jamshed Cheema after which they were released.

It may be recalled that after the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust case on May 9, violent protests started in many places across the country, during which miscreants attacked state and military installations.

During the three days of violent protests, eight people were killed and dozens were injured, during which state and military property was also damaged, the Government of Pakistan suspended the internet for several days to control the situation in the country.

Later, the government declared May 9 as a black day and cracked down on miscreants, which it was decided to prosecute under the Army Act.

Since May 9, many close aides of Imran Khan announced their separation from the party including Shireen Mazari, Fazaz ul Hassan, Fawad Chaudry, and Maleeka Bukhari.
