Pakistan’s diplomatic envoy to Afghanistan, Ubaidur Rehman Nizamani, announced the conclusion of a “successful” visit to Kabul led by the country’s commerce secretary on Thursday.
The visit aimed to strengthen ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan in transit trade and other mutually beneficial areas.
Following the visit, both sides committed to collaborating for mutual benefits across various sectors, as stated by the envoy.
Efforts will be made to facilitate bilateral trade and create an environment conducive to continuous and productive trade and economic relations.
According to a statement from the Afghan foreign ministry on Tuesday, Pakistan and Afghanistan discussed shared challenges and explored potential solutions to enhance bilateral commercial, transit, and economic relations.
The discussions took place in Kabul between interim Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Muttaqi and Pakistani Commerce Secretary Khurram Agha, who led a high-level delegation to the neighboring country.
The purpose of the visit was to boost commercial, transit, and economic relations between the two countries, the statement noted. Both sides extensively discussed existing challenges and explored potential solutions.
Muttaqi stressed the importance of collaborative efforts in finding solutions to existing challenges, while Agha assured swift resolution of issues within his domain through ongoing discussions with relevant Afghan officials.
The statement highlighted the mutual respect for shared values and responsibilities between the governments of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Towards the end of the meeting, both sides underscored the significance of developing and strengthening commercial and transit relations. Discussions also focused on facilitating cross-border movement of passengers, patients, and traders.
