Conditional permission granted by federal government for wheat imports

Islamabad- The federal government has granted conditional permission for wheat imports.

According to government sources, the federal government has granted conditional permission to wheat importers as notified by the Ministry of Commerce. The notification specifies that only wheat prepared from imported wheat for commercial purposes will be allowed.

The notification clearly states that only wheat prepared from imported wheat for commercial purposes will be allowed.

The government while amending the Export Policy Order 2022 has granted permission to import wheat under the Export Facilitation Scheme 2021.

Government sources have stated that the country has sufficient wheat reserves with wheat cultivation surpassing the designated target by 1.8% last year and the wheat production target of 32.1 million tons expected to be achieved this year.

It is noteworthy that previously, the caretaker government had decided to halt wheat imports at the government level.
