A police sub-inspector died on his way to hospital after he fell unconscious trying to prevent a suspect, who had lost his bail appeal in the Lahore High Court, from escaping.
Justice Waheed Khan of the LHC, who was hearing the case, rejected the bail petition of suspect Hussnain Ali in a case registered against him Under Section 406 of Pakistan Penal Code in Narowal district. On losing his bail, the suspect tried to escape arrest. Sub-Inspector Muhammad Suleman, 50, tried to arrest him but the suspect manhandled him.
During the altercation, the sub-inspector lost consciousness and dropped on the ground. He was shifted to Mayo Hospital by the rescue workers but he breathed his last before he could reach the hospital.
