CTD arrests nine alleged terrorists from across Punjab

Arrested belong to banned organization, include one woman

The Counterterrorism Department (CTD) Punjab, acting on tip-offs, arrested nine alleged terrorists, including a woman, from various cities in Punjab, who were accused of having links with a banned organization.

According to CTD officials, 45 suspects were interrogated during the operation across Punjab. Four suspects, including a woman named Ayman Maria, were arrested from Lahore while five others were arrested from Chiniot, Multan and Toba Tek Singh.

The arrested are said to belong to a banned organization, and explosives have been recovered from their possession. Officials say cases have been registered against the accused and an investigation has been launched.

According to the CTD spokesperson, one person namely Roman Ullah was arrested from Multan. He belongs to the defunct organization TTP.

The explosive material was recovered from his custody, which he allegedly intended to use for terrorist acts. The material also included half a kilogramme of high explosives, low explosives, non-electric detonators, safety fuse, prima cord, nails, ball bearings, and one pistol.
