Karachi: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has reserved its decision on the request for monthly fuel adjustment for K-Electric for the first 9 months of the current fiscal year.
According to media reports, NEPRA has also sought a written response from K-Electric regarding the request for tariff increase.
During the hearing, NEPRA officials stated that K-Electric has requested an incremental increase from Rs. 20.27 billion to Rs. 25.83 billion.
On the other hand, the Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi rejected the proposed increase in tariffs for K-Electric consumers stating that the inefficiency of K-Electric cannot be punished at the expense of Karachi’s citizens. According to Jamaat-e-Islami, Karachi residents are enduring load shedding of 3 to 18 hours daily.
