Former zonal director of the Mumbai Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Sameer Wankhede, has initiated legal proceedings against Bollywood actress Rakhi Sawant, filing a defamation case.
Wankhede also included lawyer Kaashif Ali Khan in the lawsuit, alleging that both individuals made defamatory comments against him.
The lawsuit originates from statements made by Khan during an interview with a channel in 2023, where he allegedly made false remarks about Wankhede, damaging his reputation as a dedicated Indian Revenue Service officer.
Wankhede contends that the claims, including accusations of being “media obsessed” and unfairly targeting celebrities, are entirely false and have caused him considerable mental anguish and emotional distress.
Seeking damages totaling Rs 11 lakh, Wankhede emphasizes that Khan exacerbated the situation by sharing similar content on his Instagram account, which was subsequently reposted by Rakhi Sawant.
This sharing, Wankhede argues, worsened the reputational harm he suffered due to the defamatory statements.
