DIG assures justice for slain shopkeeper in Thatta

Hyderabad Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Pir Muhammad Shah has announced to form a committee to launch a high-profile probe into the death of shop owner Shazad Durrani, who died while resisting a robbery bid in Thatta city some three days back.

Talking to media persons in Thatta on Thursday, he said that the local police had received CCTV footage of the incident in which the faces of the accused could be seen that would help police tracing them easily. Regarding the steps taken to prevent such incidents in future, he said that additional police force would be deployed in the city along with a well-equipped CCTV system installed at sensitive places of the city.

“We cannot leave state writ at the mercy of a few miscreants, who will be brought to book soon,” the stressed. He added that he had directed Thatta SSP to keep performing their duties vigilantly to revive the trust of common folk.

On the other hand, father of the deceased said that they had lodged an FIR under relevant provisions of PPC against unknown accused. He expressed his gratitude for the business community that stood by the bereaved family.
