Dilawar Malik of ‘Landa Bazaar’ fame was Saba Qamar’s first director

Saba Qamar, one of the most popular stars of Pakistani showbiz industry has revealed that Dilawar Malik, the name behind super-hit Pakistani serials such as ‘Landa Bazaar’ and ‘Boota from Toba Tek Singh’ was her first director ever.

Qamar gave this statement on the premier of her Eid cinematic release ‘Ghabrana Nahi Hai’, an occasion which also marked the presence of Dilawar Malik along with his sons.

After the screening, the ‘Cheekh’ fame performer specially met Dilawar Malik, holding his hand and introducing him as her first director, praising him in the following words:

“He was the first ever director of my life, someone I worked with when I didn’t even know the basics of acting.”

Except for the few Lahoris who still remember Saba Qamar as being introduced on ATV, a prominent figure of which was Dilawar Malik, a lot of people were taken by surprise. Among the entire Pakistani audience, there are very few people who know that ATV, which got launched from Lahore almost two decades ago and which was helmed by the best of Pakistani writers, directors and producers released some classics which got eclipsed because of a negligence in the production of their DVDs and also because dramas weren’t uploaded on the internet back in those days.

This new channel brought Saba Qamar as a young girl in dramas like ‘Khuda Gawah’ and ‘Dil Se Shikayat Hai’, whose good acting skills and on-screen grace resulted in her becoming one of the most sought-after actresses of Pakistan, for whom there was no looking back after these classy yet now-forgotten dramatic works.
