Erling Haaland scores four in Manchester City rout of Wolves

Erling Haaland’s spectacular four-goal performance propelled Manchester City to a resounding 5-1 victory over Wolves, bringing them within striking distance of a historic fourth consecutive Premier League title.

Earlier in the day, Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Bournemouth had momentarily extended their lead to four points at the top of the table.

However, City responded emphatically, narrowing the gap to just one point with three matches remaining, compared to Arsenal’s two.

Haaland, who has faced criticism for not replicating the form of his remarkable debut season, silenced his doubters with a clinical display, taking his season tally to 36 goals in 41 appearances.

Restored to the starting lineup by Pep Guardiola after returning from injury, Haaland made an immediate impact, converting two first-half penalties and heading home a third goal from a Rodri cross.

Despite Wolves pulling a goal back early in the second half, City quickly reasserted their dominance, with Haaland scoring his fourth goal of the match with a sublime finish into the top corner.

The Norwegian striker’s performance virtually secured him the Golden Boot, as his 25 Premier League goals now stand five ahead of his closest rivals.

City’s victory extends their unbeaten run in the Premier League to 19 games, with their only dropped points since February coming in draws against Arsenal and Liverpool.

With fixtures against Fulham, Tottenham, and West Ham remaining, City are firmly in control of their destiny as they aim to make history with a fourth consecutive league title.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will be hoping for a late twist in the title race as they seek to end a 20-year wait for the Premier League crown.

Despite the pressure, City are showing no signs of faltering as they continue their relentless pursuit of glory.
