Establishment must clear position: Zardari

Former president of Pakistan and Pakistan People’s Party co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari has said that Imran Khan was trying to hide behind a letter, referring to the alleged letter threatening Pakistan with consequences if Khan continued in the office of prime minister.

The members of the National Security Council had said that no evidence of any conspiracy been found, Zardari said in a statement, adding that on a daily basis, Imran Khan claimed that the members of security institutions were satisfied with him “so those security members need to clarify their position”. Zardari said the issue now was not of opposition or Imran Khan, but of Pakistan. Any delay in settling such serious and sensitive issues could be detrimental for the country, he warned. “This issue is no more only of the opposition or no-confidence but of national security,” he said.
