Every 50 minutes, woman dies during childbirth in Pakistan

According to the United Nations agency UNFPA, every 50 minutes, a woman dies due to pregnancy-related complications in Pakistan.

The UNFPA highlighted in its annual report that if improvements are not made in the current situation achieving zero maternal deaths could take up to 122 years and meeting the requirements of family planning could take an additional 93 years.

Dr. Loe Shiebanah, the head of UNFPA in Pakistan expressed concern over the troubling fact that many women in Pakistan still lack access to essential reproductive health services including contraception and maternal care.

This report sheds light on the urgent need for Pakistan to address the gaps in its healthcare system and prioritize women’s reproductive health. Access to quality maternal care, family planning services and education is crucial to reducing maternal mortality rates and ensuring the well-being of women across the country.
