Federal Cabinet ‘okays’ deployment of FC in Azad Kashmir

The federal cabinet gave the green light on Thursday for the Frontier Constabulary (FC) to be stationed in Azad Kashmir, aiming to safeguard Chinese citizens.

The decision, sourced from insiders, reveals that the FC’s deployment aims to bolster security in the area, especially around Chinese nationals and key infrastructures like power stations such as Neelum-Jhelum, Mangla, and Gul Pur.

Initial plans entail a three-month deployment of FC units to maintain law and order, as requested by the Azad Kashmir government to support local police efforts in ensuring peace.

Under the directive of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, stringent security measures for Chinese nationals across Pakistan have been emphasized, following a recent terrorist attack in KP’s Shangla district where five Chinese nationals lost their lives along with their Pakistani driver.
