FO denies reports of Pakistani-origin uranium package seized at Heathrow

The Foreign Office (FO) on Thursday denied accusations in UK media that a package of uranium intercepted at Heathrow Airport in London was sent from Pakistan, claiming the reports were “not factual.”

A “very small quantity” of uranium was discovered in a package that landed at Heathrow Airport last month, according to information released by British police yesterday. They stated that it didn’t seem to be connected to any immediate danger or public health risk.

According to the London Police’s Counter Terrorism Command Chief Richard Smith, the amount of radioactive material discovered during routine screening on December 29 was extremely little and had been determined by experts to pose no concern.

FO Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch responded to questions from the media about the situation by saying, “We have seen the media reports. The reports are untrue, we are certain of that.”

The official noted that the UK authorities had not formally shared any information to this effect with them.
