Free WiFi now available at 50 places in Lahore

The Punjab government has introduced a free public WiFi network at 50 locations in Lahore, aiming to provide internet access to a large number of users.

This service rollout in the provincial capital is part of an effort to offer connectivity to citizens.

The Chief Minister of Punjab has expressed satisfaction with the initial implementation of the free WiFi service, reiterating the government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises.

The announcement was made after a meeting between the Chief Minister and officials from the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), where it was decided to launch the pilot project and expand it further.

The PITB has been instructed to focus on upgrading infrastructure, including hotspots, to ensure smooth internet services.

Additionally, the CM has directed the PITB to prioritize the deployment of free WiFi services in key locations such as educational institutions, airports, railway stations, and bus stands.

This initiative is anticipated to benefit over 500 locations in Lahore, significantly improving internet accessibility for residents.

It’s worth noting that while the project was initially launched by the PML-N government in 2013, it was discontinued by the PTI government due to outstanding bills.
