French president Macron discusses Middle East crisis with Netanyahu, Sisi

French President Emmanuel Macron engaged in phone conversations on Monday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to explore strategies for preventing an escalation in the Middle East crisis, as confirmed by both France and Egypt.

According to the French presidency, Macron reiterated Paris’s commitment to de-escalating tensions in the Middle East during his call with Netanyahu, emphasizing the need to counter Iran’s destabilizing actions in the region. Macron also stressed France’s advocacy for an immediate and sustainable ceasefire in Gaza and expressed efforts to de-escalate tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border.

In a separate statement, Egyptian presidential spokesperson Ahmed Fahmy stated that Macron and Sisi discussed the Middle East crisis, mutually agreeing on the importance of preventing further regional escalation.
