FWO completed most difficult clearance operation on Karakoram Highway

FWO has successfully completed the most challenging clearance operation on the Karakoram Highway, ensuring the safe evacuation of stranded passengers and tourists.

Recent heavy rains triggered landslides at 19 different points along the Jaglot Skardu Road, with six sections of the Karakoram Highway completely blocked.

As a result, traffic on the Karakoram Highway, Jaglot Skardu Road, and Tungash Road was severely disrupted, leaving over 200 vehicles and more than 1500 individuals stranded.

FWO swiftly mobilized rescue teams equipped with heavy machinery to the affected areas, initiating round-the-clock clearance and rescue efforts. Fifty-six sections of the Karakoram Highway were cleared, restoring traffic flow amid continuous day and night operations.

Additionally, two FWO units diligently worked to reopen the Jaglot-Skardu road for traffic, earning praise from tourists and travelers for their dedicated and selfless service alongside the Pak Army.
