Gas supply to be disrupted for 8 hours in select cities tomorrow, SSGC notifies

The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) announced on Tuesday that gas supply would be halted in nine districts of Balochistan on Wednesday.

According to the statement released by SSGC, interruptions in gas supply are anticipated in Quetta, Ziarat, Pishin, and other cities in Balochistan due to ongoing repair work.

The suspension of gas supply will be in effect from 9 am to 5 pm, as stated in the announcement, attributing the disruption to damage to gas pipelines caused by recent rains in Balochistan.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Balochistan reported on Monday that heavy rains in the province since April 12 have resulted in 16 fatalities and significant damage to infrastructure across 11 districts.

PDMA also highlighted that 12 roads and two bridges have been affected in various districts, with 220 houses sustaining damage, out of which 60 were destroyed and 160 partially affected. Relief efforts are underway in Chaman, the affected area, according to PDMA.

Furthermore, a survey is being conducted to assess damages to houses and crops, with the Pakistan Army actively engaged in draining rainwater from Gwadar, Pasni, and Jiwani, as per PDMA’s latest update.
