Summer break for the academic year 2024 has been declared for schools in Punjab, including major cities like Lahore and Rawalpindi, owing to the soaring temperatures.
According to statements from the Punjab Education Minister, schools will remain closed from June 7 to August 19, 2024. This prolonged closure, spanning over two months, is a precautionary measure to shield students from the intense heat.
With temperatures in Lahore already hitting 40 degrees Celsius and expected to rise further, concerns regarding heat-related illnesses like heatstroke and dehydration among students have prompted this decision. Shutting down schools across the province during this period aims to prioritize students’ safety and well-being.
Following this announcement, both public and private schools in Lahore will observe the summer vacation schedule from June 7 to August 19, 2024. Likewise, schools in Rawalpindi will adhere to the same vacation period.
It’s important to note that this schedule applies to all cities within Punjab province.
