Government is taking measures to assist flood victims: Bilawal

Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari On Tuesday said that although the flood victims were still in pain, the government was taking action to help them.

Speaking to the media, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto said that during last year’s historic floods, one-third of Pakistan’s territory was inundated and that Pakistan was in crisis as a result of the disastrous floods, according to international organizations such as the United Nations.

The PPP chairman claimed that measures were being taken to help the flood victims recover and become self-sufficient. He expressed the need for a mechanism that would make it easier to handle future natural disasters.

According to the foreign minister, at least half of Sindh’s educational institutions were destroyed, severely damaging various sectors, including health and education.

He added that in addition to giving flood victims financial aid for restoration, the government would also offer interest-free loans.
