Hajj Operation: PIA’s first flight from Lahore to Madinah

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) embarked on its pre-Hajj operation on Thursday, marking the commencement of a significant pilgrimage journey for devout Muslims. The inaugural Hajj flight, designated as PK-717, departed from Lahore en route to Madinah, carrying 329 eager pilgrims embarking on their sacred journey. The departure was solemnized with a grand ceremony organized at Lahore Airport, where PIA’s Chief Project Officer, Khurram Mushtaq, presided over the event, bidding farewell to the pilgrims and extending best wishes for their safe travels.

Expressing sentiments of solidarity, Chief Project Officer Khurram Mushtaq urged the departing pilgrims to remember their homeland, Pakistan, and PIA in their prayers throughout their pilgrimage. PIA has assembled dedicated teams to facilitate the pilgrims both in Pakistan and upon their arrival in Madinah and Jeddah, ensuring a seamless and comfortable journey for all participants.

The meticulous execution of the Hajj operation falls under the direct supervision of PIA’s Chief Executive Officer, Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat, who has overseen the implementation of special arrangements at Lahore Airport to accommodate the needs of the pilgrims.

In parallel, private airlines also contributed to the Hajj airlift, with the first flight departing from Karachi International Airport, transporting 150 pilgrims to Madinah. Subsequently, a second flight from Karachi conveyed 180 pilgrims safely to Saudi Arabia, where they were warmly received by officials bidding them farewell.

Under the auspices of the government scheme, the Hajj operation will span until June 9th, facilitating the pilgrimage of 68,000 pilgrims through a total of 259 Hajj flights. Notably, the Road to Makkah project, spearheaded by Saudi authorities, streamlines immigration procedures for Hajj pilgrims upon their arrival in Karachi, enhancing efficiency and expediting the commencement of their sacred pilgrimage.
