Highways reopen for traffic

Highways that had been blocked owing to excessive fog in several districts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have reopened to traffic as the weather has improved.

The M2-Highway from Lahore to Kot Momin, Lahore-Multan-M3-Highway from Faizpur to Darkhana and the M5-Highway from Shujaabad to Jalalpur Interchange were closed due to fog. Motorway-M4 was closed from Pindi Bhattian to Darkhana, according to motorway police while traffic from Colonel Sher Khan Interchange to Ismaila on Burhan to Swabi Swat Expressway on Motorway M1 was halted.

According to motorway police, the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway has also been blocked owing to fog, and residents have been advised not to travel unless absolutely necessary.

The motorway police advised citizens to use fog lights and take precautions while driving due to fog but after the weather improved all motorways were reopened to all types of traffic.

Foggy conditions have been prevailing across Punjab and KP.

On the other hand, Lahore is still at the top of the world’s most polluted cities, according to the air index quality, Dhaka is second and Karachi is third in the most polluted cities.
