“I adhere to my strategy”; Babar remains steadfast in his plans for T20I World Cup 2024

Pakistan Cricket Team Captain and batsman Babar Azam reiterated his dedication to his strategic blueprint, stating, “I don’t alter my plan based on anyone’s words; I stick to the plan I have devised.”

Babar’s comments come amidst preparations for the upcoming World Cup, with a strong emphasis on assembling the most competitive team possible.

Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Azam emphasized the team’s shared objective of securing victory in every series they undertake.

Addressing the challenges posed by injuries, he emphasized the importance of maintaining player fitness and nurturing bench strength. Azam expressed optimism regarding Mohammad Rizwan’s recovery, expressing hope for his swift return to the playing XI.

The captain emphasized the importance of consistent team selection, stating, “While we may consider different mindsets and explore various combinations, we aim to stick with the same combination that we intend to use in the World Cup.”

He also stressed the importance of open communication with rested players to foster a cohesive team environment.

Dispelling rumors of discord within the squad following recent defeats, Azam asserted, “I have played alongside every player in the team, so I believe the team has strong camaraderie.”

Looking ahead to the upcoming series against Ireland, he reiterated the team’s unwavering focus on the World Cup, striving to optimize their lineup for the prestigious event.

Muhammad Rizwan, Irfan ruled out of Pak vs NZ series

Opener Mohammad Rizwan and pacer Irfan Niazi have been sidelined from further participation in the series due to injuries. In response, the team management has opted to provide them with necessary rest to aid in their recovery.

In an effort to manage player workload and explore alternative options, spinner Abrar Ahmed and fast bowler Abbas Afridi are expected to be rested for the third T20 match.

Looking ahead to the fourth match of the series, changes are anticipated in Pakistan’s playing XI. Fakhar Zaman is likely to be replaced by the returning Irfan Niazi, while promising newcomer Haseebullah is poised to make his debut in place of the injured Mohammad Rizwan.

Further adjustments are expected, with seasoned campaigner Imad Wasim likely to replace Abrar Ahmed, and the experienced Mohammad Amir set to take Abbas Afridi’s spot in the final eleven.
