IHC issues notice to father of murder victim Noor Muqaddam

Co-accused in case Jan Muhammad filed an appeal against his sentence

The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday issued a notice to the father of Noor Muqaddam on the appeal of a convicted person.

Jan Muhammad, a co-accused in Noor Muqaddam’s case filed an appeal in IHC on March 1 against his sentence of 10 years.

The court convicted Jan Muhammad in the final decision of the high-profile murder case of Noor Muqaddam, who was the daughter of a former ambassador, Shaukat Muqaddam.

The petition was filed through lawyer Kamran Murtaza and it stated that Muhammad was not accused in the main FIR and was only accused in the supplementary statement.

Justice Amir Farooq has adjourned the hearing for an indefinite period of time.

Zahir Jaffer, the main accused in this case has been given the death sentence after being on trial for almost seven months in a high-profile murder case in which he allegedly tortured, killed and beheaded 27-year-old Noor Muqaddam in Islamabad in July.
