Imad denies rift with Babar, wants to win World Cup for Pakistan

Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim has once again dismissed any rumors of discord between himself, Mohammad Amir, and white-ball captain Babar Azam.

Speaking to the media during the national team’s training session for the Ireland tour, Imad reiterated the team’s singular focus on winning the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

He emphasized his support for Pakistan captain Babar Azam, stating that he came out of international retirement to serve the country.

“We have complete solidarity with Babar. He leads the team, and we’re fully behind him,” Imad affirmed.

Imad also discussed his return to the Pakistan squad, emphasizing the collective aim of winning the World Cup, especially after narrowly missing out in previous editions.

“Our objective, Mohammad Amir’s and mine, is to make one last attempt to win the World Cup. While reaching semi-finals and finals is commendable, only champions are remembered,” Imad remarked.

He underscored the team’s determination to clinch victory in the tournament, acknowledging that the outcome ultimately lies in divine hands.

Currently, the Pakistan men’s cricket team is engaged in a three-match training session ahead of their T20I series against Ireland.

The matches will take place at Clontarf in Dublin on 10th, 12th, and 14th May 2024, beginning at 3 PM local time.

This series, along with the subsequent four T20Is in England, will aid Pakistan in fine-tuning their preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the United States.

The Pakistan squad for the Ireland and England T20Is includes Babar Azam (c), Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Rizwan, Irfan Khan, Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Salman Agha, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Afridi, and Usman Khan.
