Imran Khan condemns police raid on Pervaiz Elahi’s house

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan sharply criticized the police action against Pervaiz Elahi, the party’s president, on Saturday. He said that the police raid on Elahi’s residence was unlawful and that they had no consideration for the presence of women and family members.

Imran Khan tweeted after midnight on Saturday, “Strongly condemn the illegal raid on Pervez Elahi’s home with no respect to the women and family members present.”

Imran Khan said on Twitter that the rule of the jungle is being implemented and that the Constitution, Supreme Court decisions, and people’s basic rights are being violated.

Khan declared that he will provide the country a strategy for preventing the abolition of Pakistan’s democracy and constitution today.

Pervaiz Elahi’s home on Zahoor Elahi Road in Lahore was searched on Friday night by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) team and a sizable presence of Punjab Police. During the raid, the police detained at least 25 people, including domestic help who were employed by the former Punjab chief minister.

After Sohail Zafar Chattha, the Director General of Punjab’s Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE), and the police team left the scene, the eight-hour police operation came to an end.

Police knocked through the main gate of the home with an armoured personnel carrier (APC), jumping from the wall to access the property.

People inside the home threw stones at the police officers as they tried to enter the house, so they encountered additional resistance.
