Federal Cabinet has sanctioned the addition of journalist Sami Ibrahim and Imran Riaz Khan to the Exit Control List (ECL), as confirmed by sources familiar with the matter.
The decision, which includes the approval for 24 individuals’ names to be added to the ECL, was made as part of a process initiated by the Ministry of Interior. This underscores the government’s dedication to enforcing legal measures aimed at safeguarding national security and ensuring accountability.
Simultaneously, the Federal Cabinet has also ratified the removal of 22 individuals’ names from the ECL. Notably, this list includes Babar Awan, a leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), whose inclusion on the ECL in December 2023 was linked to the Al-Qadri Trust case.
Each decision regarding the inclusion or exclusion of names from the ECL was carefully weighed, with thorough discussions and considerations. The Federal Cabinet relied on recommendations provided by the Sub-Committee in ECL before granting its approval.
