Imran to be chief guest at GCU event today

Former Prime Minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan will join the “Taleem aur Hunar sath sath” orientation drive as chief guest for the students at Government College University (GCU) on Monday (today).

The PTI Chairman will also address the students and will encourage them to adorn themselves with skills along with the academic qualification, so they could face the challenges in their lives with confidence. The ceremony will start at 11:00 am at the Oval ground of the varsity. In a video message shared by Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) on Twitter, GCU VC Professor Dr. Asghar Zaidi said that he was at University College London and referred to the UCL curriculum.

“I am right now at University College London and one thing we learn from good universities like UCL is that their academic curriculum goes hand in hand with upskilling of their students, so the students do not face challenges after academic courses,” said the VC. He said the GCU was partnering with PITB in starting a new drive in which academic curriculum would be aligned to drive to upskilling the students. “I commend this new collaboration,” said Prof Zaidi in the video message.

Punjab Minister on Information Technology Dr. Arslan Khalid said, “IT industry & Academia have joined hands with the Punjab Govt to equip our students with digital skills that are in demand now or will be in near future. It is our great honor to welcome an inspirational leader like ImranKhanPTI as chief guest at the GCU event,” Punjab Higher Education Minister Sarfraz Hamayun and other PTI leaders will also be there to welcome their party chief at the university.
