Imran to reveal another name ‘involved’ in assassination bid

PTI chief urges masses to join long march that resumes today from Wazirabad

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Wednesday said that he would disclose one more allegedly involved in the Wazirabad assassination attempt on him last week.

The former premier claimed that he had discovered the assassination plot hatched against him almost two months ago and exposed it in Rahim Yar Khan on September 24 and Mianwali on October 7 during public rallies. “Wazirabad assassination attempt followed the script,” he wrote on his official Twitter handle.

Moreover, the PTI chief in a video message urged the masses to join the long march that resumes today (Thursday) from Wazirabad.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the PTI’s senior leadership in Lahore has called for the dissolution of assemblies to pave the way for immediate elections in all four provinces, according to a statement issued by the party.

It said that the party only had one basic demand – elections should be held as soon as possible.

The meeting also discussed the party’s long march to Islamabad and said convoys from across the country would reach Rawalpindi by November’s third week.

During the meeting, party members also passed a resolution in favour of Imran, while all elected members of PTI in the Centre, four provinces, as well as Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan altogether would request the Supreme Court to register a first information report (FIR) against the attack on their party chief.

This is the third time the party had set a date for the resumption of the long march.

Former minister and PTI leader Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said there would be no further delay in the march’s arrival in Rawalpindi where Imran would gather with “hundreds of thousands of people”.

Separately, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq on Wednesday visited Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan at his Zaman Park residence in Lahore to inquire after the health of the former prime minister.

Matters related to prevailing political situation also came under discussion during the meeting between two leaders.
