Punjab health department issues red alert over spread of infectious diseases in Multan

The Punjab Health Department has issued a red alert to district health authorities across the province due to the potential spread of Congo fever, heatstroke, conjunctivitis, and hepatitis A.

In response to this threat, comprehensive precautionary measures and awareness campaigns are being mandated.

The movement of livestock for Eid al-Adha poses a significant risk of transmitting the Congo virus from animals to traders and locals, potentially leading to widespread cases of Congo fever.

Additionally, soaring temperatures, now exceeding 45 degrees Celsius in many cities, may lead to an increase in heatstroke incidents.

Another concern is the spread of the pink virus, which could lead to an outbreak of conjunctivitis.

The health department has instructed local authorities to intensify educational efforts to inform the public about these risks and preventive strategies.
